1. Raise your screen
If you work on a laptop, the screen is usually too low, which pulls your head forward. A laptop stand lifts the screen towards eye level, and a separate keyboard and mouse keep your arms comfortable. See our best laptop stands guide.
2. Support your lower back
A chair that does not fit your back can leave you slouching. A lumbar cushion fills the gap. Our best lumbar support cushions guide compares the options.
3. Sit comfortably
A seat cushion can add comfort on a hard chair, especially for long sittings. Read the best seat cushions guide.
4. Set a few basics
- Feet flat on the floor or a footrest.
- Knees roughly level with your hips.
- Elbows close to your body, forearms around desk height.
- Top of the screen near eye level, about an arm’s length away.
5. Move often
Even the best setup is no substitute for movement. Stand, stretch or walk for a minute or two every half hour or so.
